KRUISIN’ 4 KIDS A ROARING SUCCESS

copy-of-istockchild-on-mini-bike-large1August 7th turned out to be a perfect weather day to get the big bikes out on the road.  The Kruisin’ 4 Kids Poker Run saw 138 motorcycle riders get together for a great run and lots of fun.  Special thanks also to Blue Lakes Charter for providing a bus for those who did not have bikes to enjoy the festivities as well.  Grand Central Bar and Grille hosted the event with bikers enjoying a delicious pig roast, great door prizes, and entertainment.  Amy & Mike, as well as all their employees from Grand Central put in many, many hours to make the cruise such a great success.   Although all proceeds have not been tallied, the Child Abuse and Neglect Council will receive nearly $3,000 from the event.

Among the many supporters of the event, Clor Cycle added a little fun by having a dunk tank at their store and hosted a drawing for a bike cover.  Additionally, these supporter’s held their own events to raise additional dollars and sold ‘Put the Brakes on Child Abuse’ wall buttons:  Coty’s Old Tyme Roadhouse, Drake’s Bar, Joe’s Bar, Flannigan’s Pub, Green Parrot, Bulldog Bar & Grill, Woody’s, Cody’s Landing, Joe’s Bar, Hill’s and the Backwoods Bar & Grill.  In addition to several businesses who donated door prizes, Martin Chevrolet, Tom & Rayleen Lawler, and the Fordney Club made cash donations.  Our lucky 50-50 winner promptly donated back all his winnings-thank you Tony Hupfer.  Special thanks to Sam M. for getting together a grab bag for each biker and making collections on her own.  Committee members Jennifer, Chris, Ken, Amy, Cathy, Catherine and Delores and all the event-day volunteers worked hard to make the event so much fun.
