Resource Development Manager

Job Purpose Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with CAN donors as well as oversight of fundraisers for the CAN Council.

Requirements Minimum of Bachelor’s degree; 3-5 years’ experience in donor relations or high-level sales responsibilities; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; outstanding presentation skills; knowledge of data management; project management skills; organized and timely; ability to work efficiently, effectively and with flexibility and good humor. Travel throughout the entire service area of CAN Council required. Flexibility to participate in evening/weekend engagements required.

This full-time position could be successfully filled by an individual employee working full-time. Alternatively, candidates meeting all position requirements will be considered even if unable to work full-time. A minimum of a 24 hour/week commitment is required.

Resource Development/Stewardship

  • Oversight and coordination of 2-3 signature event fundraisers.
    • Manage Sponsorship and Donor Acquisition goals for assigned signature events.
  • Leverage donor relationships to secure in-kind gifts when needed.
  • Create and implement a system to recruit, engage, and retain donors in conjunction with President/CEO, Board Chair, and Development Specialist.
  • Create, manage the production of, and deliver stewardship and annual gift reports to educate, engage, inspire, and thank donors including Take A Stand for Children Society donors, endowment donors, and corporate sponsors/donors, among others.
  • Coordinate general stewardship programs including personalized communications, letters, and web-based information (i.e. raffle ticket purchasers).
  • Oversee stewardship processes to ensure appropriate and accurate recording, timely acknowledgement, recognition, and allocation of gifts (including calls for donor gifts).
  • Design and implement annual donor survey for purpose of refining and improving reports and other donor communications.
  • Research and communicate emerging trends and best practices in donor engagement, donor reports, and stewardship.

Donor Relations

  • Master and implement the Benevon model working closely with President/CEO.
    • Responsible for two annual Take A Stand for Children Society events, part of the Benevon model.
    • Utilize the Benevon model to ensure, foster, and nurture productive relationships with all current and potential donors.
  • Facilitate regular brainstorming and create targeted strategies on innovative, unique, and personalized stewardship communications and experiences to cultivate potential donors, utilizing the database, leveraging the staff, board, and volunteers of the CAN Council.
  • Supervise programs and activities for the Take A Stand for Children Society, including cultivating current members, planning recognition events, and developing personalized communications.
  • Direct Annual Appeal process to a successful completion including authoring materials and acknowledgement letters for current, lapsed, and new prospects.
  • Develop and manage relationships for all third-party fundraisers.
    • Implement a system for recognizing and tracking all third-party fundraisers.
  • Accountable for growing of the endowment funds.
  • Attend and represent the CAN Council at regional events as requested.
  • Coordinate distribution of Annual Report to funders and author enclosed letter.

Administrative

  • Assist with front office coverage and attend Administrative weekly meetings, as part of the Administrative team.
  • Work in collaboration with the Public Awareness & Donor Relations Coordinator and other Administrative team members as necessary.
