CASA volunteer opportunities
A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a special type of volunteer utilized by the CAN Council and other children’s advocacy organizations nationwide. A CASA volunteers 12 to 20 hours per month advocating on behalf of a child or sibling group in the court system due to abuse or neglect. Prospective CASAs must complete a volunteer application (PDF), an interview with the CASA staff and a background check. Individuals selected to become CASAs must complete a 40- to 50-hour training course prior to beginning their service.
